School Community
At Morley Victoria we always try to be at the heart of the local community, caring for those around us and through our creative curriculum helping to teach our children to become well-rounded individuals and good citizens. We make sure that we have links within the local community where everyone can benefit equally. We have links with St. Peter’s Church and visit there at least twice each year, usually Christmas and Easter. At the same time, our school is the base for the local Brownies and Guides with many of our school children in attendance. Residents at local residential homes come for a visit once a year to our Christmas coffee morning - everyone enjoys this event! We also work closely with other schools in the Primary Partnership on joint projects, some final events have taken place at Morley Town Hall were we have links with the Mayor.
As part of the more school based community we look to our families, children, Governors and PFA for support. Each of these groups make a substantial contribution to our school and the community we serve. The Governors are here to support the school leadership team in its decision making. They continue to help the school make important changes and improvements to our school for which we are very grateful. Our families are very supportive of the school in terms of attendance at Meet the Teacher opportunities, Learning Review Meetings, concerts, sporting and music events. The school council meet weekly to discuss any matters arising. The children often set the agenda and then work with staff to try to implement positive change based upon their wishes. The children also have a number of other roles in school which involve working together with all stakeholders to develop Morley Victoria into an even better place to be. The PFA worked with the Morley branch of Manning Stainton on several projects. Together they managed to purchase two defibrillators for our school and a sign for outside the building alerting the local community that we have this life-saving equipment should they ever need it, We are most grateful for their support. Our links with the local private day nurseries and secondary schools are also very important to use because of the priority we place on transition between settings.
Our school should be the hub of the local community and we are constantly looking for new ways to achieve this.
